Every year on Memorial day weekend, the Boy Scouts place American Flags in front of each head stone at the Marietta Cemetery. The rolling hills, the uniform placement of each stone and old Oak trees make this an amazing Memorial Day setting.

Farmers Market

Madison, WI.
One of my favorite places to photograph is the farmers market in Madison Wisconsin. Every weekend throughout the summer and fall, hundreds of vendors converge on the streets surrounding the State Capitol Building. The colors from fruits, vegetables and flowers makes a great back drop for photographing. The vendors range from Bakery's, Florists, Gardeners, Farmers, Butchers, ethnic foods and of course every imaginable type of cheese. The aromas permeate the air for blocks, numerous street vendors performing their songs and the crowds are always diverse. Throughout my blog you will find numerous photos of the Madison Farmers market. Several of my favorite subjects are Piccolo Pete, always in an all orange wardrobe, and the singing cowboy, who knows and sings just one song--Over and over and over. Both of them can be found in the "people" section of my blog. The singing cowboy can be found in both his summer and winter attire.

Because of the size of this painted advertisement on a brick wall, it appears to be a real gum wrapper or a piece of paper on a sidewalk. Look closely and you can make out the individual bricks

Pollution

CLICK PHOTO TO ENLARGE: My family and I have always enjoyed the outdoors and I hope it continues to be something my children enjoy. On a recent hike along the Chattahoochee River in Atlanta I didn't capture the beauty that I often find, but rather the amount of pollution that can build up along the banks. I hope this natural resource and the many others across the United States are here in the future so that my children can share the same adventures with their children that we share today. Can you find the 12 tennis balls? The Nike Flip-Flop? The Pill Bottle? The Shaving cream can?

Out To Pasture

I am often driving in roural parts of the South East and have decided to start photographying the interesting (to me) sights of the SE. I know this is not the best photograph I have taken. I was limited in trying to compose the picture by a barbed fence and me being in a suit, I was dealing with mid-day sun and that often wash's out a photograph and just as importantly I may have been tresspassing. Having seen this vintage vehicle from the road I thought a quick shot and then I am off...I took just one picture but will make a point to come back. Not only was this vehicle a rusted relic of the past, but the surounding lot was littered with a variety of vehicles from a bye gone era. All of them covered with vegitation and rust.

1st Communion - Cousins

Both of these birds were a few feet apart on a pier in South Daytona. One of the many challenges of photography is trying to make white, just that, WHITE. The camera automatically tries to make everything a shade of gray. Therefore, white is never white without camera adjustments. When taking these two photos I made some adjustments and the white in deed appears to be white. One other point is, I tried to have a very small point of focus. The eye's and surrounding feathers are in focus and as you move away from these areas the remaining part of the bird is not in focus. I did this to draw the viewer towards the color or the most interesting part of the photo, the Eye's.

Roswell Bike Criterium

Having been to a few bike races in the past I have always thought they would be fun to photograph. Not only are the events very colorful, with the variety of jersey's and sponsor logo's, but also present a real challenge to photograph. Many elements come into trying to capture a good image. First, these riders are traveling at speeds of 30-40 MPH and trying to "freeze" them in frame is a challenge. Secondly, the lighting can vary every few feet as they travel through shadowed aeas of the course. These two images seemed to capture the many elments of bike racing. The color, speed, intensity and the fitness level of the competitors.

I have always thought that windows and their paynes make a great natural photo frame. Today, my daughter and niece were looking out a french door while I was washing windows. At last, my subjects appeared in what I have always thought would be an interesting photo. I asked them to "hold a pose" while I retrieved my camera. Here is the result.
